Plans for a community center in Oakhurst were conceived in the early 1960’s when members of the mountain area felt the need for a place where the area citizens could gather for dinners, meetings, and other social activities.  The land for the Center was generously donated by a long-time area resident, and the Center, finished in 1965, was built primarily with volunteer labor and donated materials.  The Center continues to operate with a volunteer Board of Directors made up mostly of members of community-based organizations and service clubs.

Resource Room/Office

We are opened to assist with any Community Center questions and assist with reservations at the center. The office is located within the Resource Room just off the Main Hall Entry. The Resource Room offers information on many things within the community, from classes to fire safety information, to connecting with service clubs in the area. If you just want to drop in to read, play games, do puzzles or homework, use the free wi-fi or hang out with a friend, the Oakhurst Community Center is the perfect place.
